Separate your hair by layers first. *You can do that by tying up the top section of your hair with a hair tie so that you can work on the bottom layer first* I usually separate it right in the middle, which is from where the top of my ears are.
Add a little bit of serum, that is usually used before styling it with a hot iron, to your hair. *try CHI silk infusion but any heat serum would work* This is just to protect your hair from heat damage.
Then, take the first 4 inches from the BOTTOM [not the ROOTS] part of your hair *it could be less, depending on your hair length* and only put that part on the curling iron. Twist the iron outwards and hold for a couple seconds. Repeat that for the rest of the bottom layer of your hair.
After that, drop the rest of your hair down and begin working on that layer. For the top layer, you can give it a playful look by twisting it just a bit, almost rotating it 90 degrees, but remember to keep it pointing outwards to match the bottom part of your hair. <--That should give you this part: http://i27.tinypic.com/2yx4tiw.jpg
Once done, use hair spray.

I hope that helps.

Start with a curl cream (Bumble & Bumble is really my favorite hair products company) and let it air dry SLOWLY.
Then take a LARGE curling iron and curl in sections - - according to layers. :) Or buy LARGE rollers to set in a row down the center of your part. :)

It's fairly simple! Good luck!
