I have a formal in three days and I’m doing my own hair…how do I get flawless spiral/banana type curls?

I have medium length hair that is fairly straight (with a little wave that can be coaxed out), and it’s pretty thick. I have a 1 inch curling iron and I just want pretty loose spiral/banana curls all over my head that will A) last and B) not take forever to do. Any suggestions? I need help ASAP! Thanks!
