Spiral curling iron vs. normal curling iron?

What’s the difference between a spiral curling iron and a normal curling iron? And what’s a barrel curling iron?
I really know nothing about curling irons because I have naturally curly hair, but lately I’ve been wanting to get my hair more like a Taylor Swift kind of look, and I guess she has the same problem as I do, with naturally curly hair and wanting more defined curls.

Whats the difference between a spiral curling iron and a normal one?

Does one work better than the other or something? Or is the look different? I have really long thick naturally wavy/curly hair and when i straighten it i try to use a curling iron but it takes forever and then it doesnt even stay. what do you recommend? And whats the best way to use it? THANKS!!
